Tree Planting at Geneva Park
Volunteers from Girl Scout Troop 2134, The Sun City Garden Club, The Williamson County Native Plant Society, and neighbors of Geneva Park help to plant 40 trees in Honor of Arbor Day on March 21, 2009 at Geneva Park. About 30 people came out to help plant the trees. We planted 40 trees from eleven different species including: Monterrey oaks, chinkapin oaks, bur oaks, lacebark elms, pecans, Arizona cypress, redbuds, yaupon holly, lacey oaks, soapberries, and desert willows, are all native or adapted to the Central Texas climate.
Smokey Bear came out to thank all the volunteers for helping to plant the trees.
The City of Georgetown gave all the participants a one gallon bur oak as a thank you. The hope is that all the one gallon trees will find great homes in Georgetown yards.
